Thirteen-year-old Gary learns hypnosis from his neighbor who owns a small magic show. The neighbor, Earl, is paralyzed and ask Gary to hypnotize him and tell him to stand. Gary does that and thinks he is gifted. Earl and Gary’s mother tell him he’s not special. As Gary grows older he must decide who he is, through loss and love.
